Question to the Dr.

Today I finally made time to go to the GP. I explained her about my diet and asked all the questions that were bugging me.

Q. Is it normal to have headaches, dizziness, and feel if something is wrong?
A: your body takes almost one month to accept that that's all that it will get from you.
Q. Is a 1200 calories daily intake too low?
A: 1200 calories is pretty reasonable.
Q. What kind of blood test should I take to make sure that my diet is not getting me sick and is it any test available to verify is my metabolism is normal?
A: Glucose, TSH, CBC, Creatine, ALT, T4 free, Vitamin B12, Ferritin. Thyroid test should be able to verify this information.
Q. It is the first time in my life that I am taking so many supplements, is it enough or am I taking too much stuff?
A: The only extra vitamin she suggested me to take was vitamin D.

I left the office with all the answers, a blood test done and a recommendation to take vitamin D.

Breakfast was the trivial scrambled egg with leftover chicken from yesterday's lunch. A salad with cucumber, yellow pepper, and cherry tomatoes. A brazil nut, and coffee with milk.

One of the recommendations of my doctor was not to skip meals and to avoid putting my body into starvation mode. According to her, if you do that, the next time you will eat, your body will store that food as fat. That said, as I was too lazy to stop home before I started running my errands, I had a fruit and grain cereal bar on the go from Kashi.

My snack today was all bran buds. It is a great option due to its high fiber content. It does not taste bad and it takes a long time to chew the whole container!

Lunch was easy and simple. Sockeye salmon, with hummus and cucumber.

Dinner was a splurge. Congee with dry clams, fried eggplant with pork, and rice. I should not forget about that glass of wine ;) Pretty good!

Aftermath of 01/122013:

626 calories before dinner
6 cups of water
8 hours of sleep

Have a great eve!
Fernanda
