La Famille (Montreal, QC)

This was the best brunch experience ever!

Highly recommended if you make your way to Montreal. The place is tiny, the kitchen is double of the size of mine but still super little for a restaurant, with 9-10 places to seat. The chalk board menu was inviting. Their gorgeous light fixtures made the place feel cozy.

I had the ciabatta agneau, chèvre, poivron, aubergine. Superb! Perfect execution, delicious flavors.

The friendly chefs and wait staff made my day. Perfect place to come after a yoga session and have a glass of rosé sparkling.

Great place to come watch the chefs in action, what a show!

Talk about a heart attack in a plate!

The Day After

I spent my day in bed after Birthday Party Part 1...

Breakfast: Spinach salad with orange slices, bulgarian feta, and candied pecans, half of an omelet, birthday cake, and coffee with milk.

Lunch: Spinach salad with cucumber, tomato, and feta cheese, and Karkowka with potatoes.

Dinner: Baja fish taco, pork taco, beef cheeks taco, and a spicy ceasar from Grand Electric (http://www.grandelectricbar.com/).

Birthday Party n1

It is great to start a working day with a tray of lemon muffins on your desk. I love my co-workers!
More pictures to come...

Breakfast:
All bran buds with Danactive and blackberries, coffee with milk and one cheese bread.

Lunch: Strattiatella and half of a portion of gnocchi with gorgonzola from Bocconccino Restaurant. This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Woodbridge.

Dinner party: Charcuterie, cheeses, braised beef empanada from the Empanada Company, and Vatapa.

The County General

Eating well during the weekend is a challenge. Today was no exception. I had only two meals during the entire day. I cooked a Brazilian style brunch for my friends and that kept me ok until 7PM (after 1h of ice skating). I went to The County General for dinner and drinks, a small but great place on Queen & Ossington. They have a huge selection of drinks and the food menu is small but elaborated. The decor is intimate and the music was great. Super friendly staff! I would definitely come back.

Brunch: Yucca root with fresh spanish cheese, sweet potato with chourizo, fried plantain with manioc flour, carima cake, avocado shake, and coffee with milk.

Dinner: Fried Chicken tight sandwich with avocado chutney and pickled red onion and greens salad. Sooooo Yummy!!!!!!! I cannot forget about the wine and the air flight cocktail.

Bocconccino

Somehow eating was not one of my priorities today, and I am definitely blaming on last night’s dinner. I was not hungry this morning when I work up but I forced myself to have breakfast. I had kiwi, pineapple, plain yogurt, and all bran buds, a brazil nut, coffee with milk, and a few Brazilian shortbread cookies.

We celebrated one of my co-workers birthday at Bocconccino (http://bocconcino.ca/). Their food is very good and the place is quite nice for Woodbridge. I had a stracciatella soup, and half of their homemade gnocchi dish. I love the idea of sharing dishes because it allows me to try more dishes without feeling too guilty. The gorgonzola sauce was light and tasty.

My dinner plans with my girlfriends got postponed because of the lovely weather. Luckily I had saved half of my main from last night and I had it for dinner. I complemented it with a side of black and red quinoa with shrimp and lime juice, and two tiny empanadas.

Trevor Kitchen

So much of so good intention but so little results... I truly wanted to go to the gym today before indulging in a dream dinner but, my body did not collaborate with me. After spending a few hours awake last night, after 4:30PM, all that I wanted to do was to sleep and rest so I could enjoy the dinner and not feel super tired tomorrow... The good part was that I skated for 30 minutes today during lunch time.

I tried to eat supper healthy food the entire day. Leafy greens with grapefruit, macedonian feta, and pecans. Scrambled eggs with red and yellow pepper, gouda, an chives. A brazil nut, coffee with milk.

Healthy snacks? You got it! Pear and activia with all bran buds, one tiny peanut butter flavoured pretzel.

Healthy and light lunch? That's what I aimed for. Daal and a salad with orange, feta, and candied pecans.

Here is what I had for dinner at Trevor :

duck and fois gras rillettes

1/2 of the port braised beef cheeks with sunchoke risotto and shaved frozen fois gras

1/2 of the dark chocolate and caramel torte with peanut butter chantilly

As I previously mentioned, Trevor(http://www.trevorkitchenandbar.com/menus.php) is one of my favourite spots in town. I am glad we were able to get a table for this winterlicious. Super nice ambiance!

The food? to die for... hoping for another good excuse to come back there.

Cheers,
Fernanda
